Characteristics
Appearance: White crystalline or crystalline powder, it has a
sweet taste odorless and a cooling.
Sensation: it water solution and transparent 1gdissolves in about 0.65ml of
water. It is tiny to dissolve in the ether with Methyl alcohol, Melting Point:
92-96?, Boiling Point: 216?, 10% solution: PH5.0-7.0
Xylitol occurs naturally in many fruits and vegetables and is
even produced by the human body during normal metabolism, produced commercially
from plants such as corncob, birch and fibrous vegetation, xylitol has the same
sweetness and bulk as sucrose with one-third calories (about 2.4 calories per
Gram) and no unpleased aftertaste, It quickly dissolve and produces a cooling
sensation in the mouth.

Diabetes is known as the top third killer behind AIDS and cancer.
It is therefore named "Sub-cancer" According to a survey conducted by
the Chinese Academy of Preventive Medical Science, of over 40,000 permanent
residents aged 20 to 74 across 11 provinces/municipalities, the morbidity ratio
of diabetes was 3.21% and 4.76% has lower tolerance to sugar. That translates
into 5000 to 6000 persons with either diabetic or lower tolerance to sugar. Out
of which, 5% belongs to the former with most of the sufferers coming from
children and young people and patients suffering acute attack and severe
deficiency of insulin. The rest 95% belongs to the later with most of the

A cure applied in medical and health services
1. As a cure for diabetics, Xylitol serves as an intermediate of sugar
metabolism. By its unique way of metabolism, it produces 6-phosphofructose and
phosphoglyceraldehyde directly via metabolism of pentose phosphate pathway
without the necessity of promotion by insulin (it even promotes secretion of
insulin). The 6-phosphofructose and phosphoglyceraldehyde thus produced can
supply energy to the cells, maintain metabolic balance in body and effectively
control diabetic syndromes. After use of this product, the commonly seen
diabetic symptoms will be relieved gradually, and the users will be reported of
reduced glycosuria. Through persistent use of this product, the symptoms will
disappear.
2. As a cure for improving hepatic function, Xylitol can slow down the
producing process of fatty acid in plasma, but won’t cause higher blood sugar.
After intake, the level of lactic acid, Pyruvic acid and glucose in the blood
will decrease, and insulin level will go up slightly. At the same time, the
hepatic starch will increase while the aminotransferase will decrease. This is
good for hepatitis B persisting type and cirrhosis. Obviously, it is an
effective drug for hepatitis sufferers, especially for diabetics with
accompanying hepatitis syndrome.

Other medical effects of Xylitol
1. It may be used as an infusion in surgical operation. It's
clinically proved that Xylitol has better blood stability than glucose, being
an ideal sugar supplement used in internal and surgical treatment, especially
after surgical anesthesia and surgical operation when there is something wrong
with glucose metabolism and glucose can' t be utilized. Xylitol promotes the
flow of red blood cells (RBC), maintains the negative charge of RBC, and
controls the content of blood glutathione, thus shortening the healing process
of surgical location.
2. It is effective in controlling formation of glycerol, neutral fat and free
fatty acid, thus may be used to control weight gain and cure obesity.
3. Xylitol has good heat stability. It will not generate chemical reaction when
heated together with amino acid. Therefore, it may be mixed with amino acids
and applied to various agents. Xylitol is also good for gastric secretion,
pancreatic & biliary activity, adrenal cortex hormone, NADPH and ATP,
suitable for aged and weak people.
4. As Xylitol is absorbed by the intestinal wall at a pace slower than other
sugars, it may be used in combination with laxative for senile constipation,
and won’t cause pain and side effect.
Directions for use
To be infused in water before use, or to be taken with meal. For
adults, 2 to 3 times daily with dosage of 20 to
40 g. For children, half of the dosage or follow
doctor’s advice.
Cautions
1. In case of minor diarrhea with first time user or user taking this product
at excessive dosage, reduce the dosage and the diarrhea will disappear. There
is no other side effect.

Xylitol is resistant to the S mutant in mouth and won’t be
fermented into harmful dental plaque acid. It inhibits the growth of dental
plaque and acidic formation, stimulates the flow of protective saliva, changes
the constituents of saliva, slows the reducing process of the pH value, and
reduces the dental decay due to the plaque acid. Cane sugar also promotes
saliva secretion, but that’s not enough to overweigh the acidic effect caused
by the streptococcal mutant. By contrast, after Xylitol is taken, the basic
amino acid and ammonia concentration in the saliva and at the carious plaque
will rise, pushing up the pH value. As a result, the xylitol-5-phosphate will
resettle on the enamel, thus re-strengthening the teeth and repairing impaired
enamel. Xylitol can inhibit bacterial reproduction and acid formation, thus
leading to 90% reduction of acidic product by lactic acid bacteria and
streptococcal mutant and resulting decrease of bacteria-dependent fatty
phosphoric acid in the saliva and the plaques. As a result, the bacteria
adsorbed to the dental surface are inhibited, and plaques are reduced in
number.
Application and promotion of Xylitol
Xylitol has an effect of inhibiting corrosion. Holding it in month from time to
time will help prevent tooth caries. Due to this characteristic, it is widely
used in gumdrop, chewing gum, candies and chocolate. In
Japan
, it’s
also broadly applied in drugs and cosmetics.
Gumdrop made with xylitol as sweetener is designed for dental patients. In
Europe, sugar-free chewing gum constitutes over 50% of
the market. According to a German report, in 1997, the sugar-free type took a
market share of 73% in the
U.K.

1. No browning reaction when heated.
When heated, cane sugar is likely to react with amino acid and turn brown. It’s
a major headache for most food processing. As xylitol doesn’t’t have aldehydes
group or ketone group in its structure and won’t produce browning reaction when
heated, it is therefore suitable for use in roasted foods with different
tastes.
2. Resistant to yeast as a poor culture medium for microorganisms.
Due to this feature, it allows longer preservation time for food made with
xylitol. For example, some customers prefer fruit jam with less sugar, but such
fruit jam is more likely to become deteriorate after the container is opened.
If xylitol is used instead of cane sugar, the fruit jam can be preserved for
longer time without necessity to add any artificial preservative agent.
3. Moisture absorptive.
Xylitol absorbs moisture; therefore, it’s more suitable to soft cookies than
cane sugar for lasting softness. For example, cake and bread made with xylitol
tend to maintain softness for long time.
4. Cool feeling
Xylitol has a capacity of heat solution as 10 times higher than that of cane
sugar, in other words, when xylitol is dissolved, it tends to absorb large
amount of heat, and makes the medium cooler. Food made with xylitol has a cool

Safety and Storage
Xylitol is slowly absorbed from the intestinal tract.
Over-intake at one time may cause light diarrhea, however it depends on
personal health conditions, the diarrhea will disappear a short time later when
